CasaCasa Sales Office

Dayun designed this sales office for a new housing development.

Its two storeys contain the sales office, administrative offices, lounge and cafe areas. On the upper level an open terrace gives access to gallery space and a roof garden.

While overall form is rectilinear, the main elevation is intersected by an arched concrete shell structure with perforated alloy louvre, while on the reverse side an irregular array of variously proportioned windows break up the largest section of wall and provide light to corridors and stairwells on the interior.

IDEAT Booth

For Ideat’s booth at the Salone del Mobile Milano Shanghai Alberto Caiola Studio created a dynamic and interactive space with a minimal palette of two colours.

The predominant colour is a deep blue, visually striking but also allowing for a green screen effect to virtually place visitors in the concurrent exhibition in Milan via a photo stage at one end. In addition to this virtual portal to Milan, the booth housed a cafe area, magazine display and stepped seating. Scrolling LED displays run along the booth adding movement, and the magazine logo in a bold and contrasting green, applied in orthogonal projection over the stepped seating and central area of the booth, adds further dynamism, its elements shifting in the view of passers-by.

Anaya Pavilion

For the Anaya development in Qinhuangdao Dayun designed this pavilion encapsulating two show homes. On a platform slightly raised above the street level the pavilion joins the two show homes surrounding each with a cloistered walkway and separating the two with a gravelled courtyard and shallow pool of water. Space is divided with arches, columns and walls, varying the degree of openness to the surrounding landscaped garden, while roof apertures add an additional dimension and variety to the play of light on the structure throughout the day.

Paras Cafe

Located in the Hongqiao Vanke Center in Shanghai, the Paras Cafe caters to the staff of nearby businesses and local residents.

Finished in blue and white the design primarily uses ceramic tiles, metal mesh and plain concrete with a single use of marble for the service counter.

Judiciously hung circular wall mirrors along with the perspective-bending illusions of the grid patterned white tile walls subtly help to create the sense of a large and varied space, which alloy mesh boxes above the service counter and central table area further help to define and divide.

Urban Prisms

Lukstudio created a playful pavilion of colour and light as a pop-up store for eye wear brand Mujosh.

Taking cues from design elements of the brand’s range of sunglasses the pavilion combined retail space with an interactive ‘experience chamber’ inviting guests to play with shifting patterns of coloured light and shadow.

The basic rectilinear structure of white scaffolding supports a flat roof sheltering the interior and is intersected by three translucent prisms. Lit from within, these glow at night drawing in passersby.
